Samuel Loveman letter from 1972, regretting that he had to sell Clark Ashton Smith’s letters and manuscripts.
IIRC, Smith’s letters to Loveman surfaced about ten years ago, and may be published eventually. I think they may be in the Bancroft Library.
Thanks for the information, Martin. They sound like they would certainly be a very interesting resource for Lovecraft circle scholars to have.
Found them, in the William C. Farmer collection in California: “Clark Ashton Smith letters: to Samuel Loveman, 1913-1941 (BANC MSS 2002/258 cz).” … “available on microfilm”. 2 reels, 570 frames and 608 frames, suggesting around 1,100 pages of letters. http://www.oac.cdlib.org/search?query=BANC%20MSS%202002/258%20cz;idT=UCb113288050
