“New England Vampire Panic” history podcast. Starts at 2:46. The first instance sounds similar to “The Shunned House”, in terms of the run of deaths in a family. The second instance in Exeter also recalls the town of Innsmouth, in terms of the depopulation and the accusations of inbreeding.

CthulhuWho1 has built a huge Lovecraft audio links gateway…
“correlates all of the over 1,050 known links to audio readings, and dramatizations of H. P. Lovecraft’s works that are freely available to listen to (most with just one click); and to download if desired.”

New podcast lecture from Durham University, in the north of England, UK. “Such Terrifying Vistas of Reality’: lunatic landscapes in the works of H.P. Lovecraft”…
“David Varley takes a tour through the uncanny landscapes of H.P. Lovecraft. This lecture was recorded as part of the Late Summer Lecture Series given by Ph.D students to bring new research to a public audience.”
Sadly it’s posted on some crappy Flash player system called MixCloud, rather than as a simple mp3 — and MixCloud doesn’t seem to want to work on my system
Update: Thanks to Read Durham for an alternative MP3 link: http://bit.ly/1f67k4D The long ‘Lovecraft for beginners’ preamble ends 23:28, when the landscape bit starts.

A rather good professional-quality reading of “The Shuttered Room“, the Derleth posthumous collaboration of 1959.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Lovecraft! Some of the presents, so far, that have been given away for Lovecraft’s 123rd Birthday:
* Axel in Germany has today launched the ArkhamInsiders podcast. It’s a new German-language Lovecraft podcast (first edition here) which…
“in the future [plans] to do interviews with international Lovecraft scholars, writers and so on.”
* My own birthday gift is a new The annotated “The Lurking Fear” as a free PDF, with 8,000 words of new scholarly annotations. The PDF is set up so it can be printed as a 46-page booklet on a home laser printer (use the likes of the FinePrint software to print a PDF as booklet-sheets).
* Fangoria has an interview with Bryan Moore, the maker of the Lovecraft Bronze Bust set to be unveiled at NecronomiCon Providence 2013.

A perfectly-delivered free reading of Lovecraft’s near-hilarious over-the-top story “The Hound” (1922), courtesy of Lawrence Santoro at Tales to Terrify.
Above: from “The Hound” adaptation by Steve Beach.
Could be neatly followed by the free reading of Frank Belknap Long’s “The Hounds Of Tindalos” (1931) by Lewis Morgan.

A new free Arkham Gazette pilot issue #0… “dedicated to the Lovecraft Country setting for [the RPG game] Call of Cthulhu“, with a focus on the roads, which might inspire fiction writers as well as gamers. To celebrate there’s also a shakily-recorded MU Podcast 037 — Graveyards, Turnpikes, and Lovecraft Country.
