The Brooklyn Public Library now has a complete scanned run of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle online for free, including the years that Lovecraft was in Brooklyn.
Lovecraft’s marriage announced, 2nd April 1924…
The piano sale ad, 20th April 1924…
Evidently the $500 for the piano was not found from a private buyer. It was later sold for $350 in September 1924.
Madame Vauquer said:
Thank you for announcing this and posting the article and the ad. Loved reading about the meeting.

The “Employment / Help Wanted–Female” section of the 25 and 26 May 1924 issues (p. 54, col. 3, & p. 12, col. 7, respectively) additionally contain the following notice:
MILLINER, first class, in private establishment, one who can make hat frames. Apply Monday morning to Madam Lobecrast, 259 Parkside av, near Flatbush.
“Lobecrast” is surely a typesetting error for Lovecraft and the ad relates to Sonia’s attempt of setting up her own millinery enterprise.
(Only the May 25 version of the notice can be turned up by searching for the misspelling; that for the next day can only be found by searching for “259 Parkside”, even though it contains the same error. Searching for “Blue Pencil Club”, “amateur press”, “amateur journalism”, “National Amateur”, “James F. Morton”, “Kleiner”, etc. also turns up some material of interest relating to Lovecraft’s amateur colleagues, APAs, and the Fossils library of amateur journalism)
