The building next to the Fleur de Lys Studios in Providence? Lovecraft’s uncle Franklin C. Clark appears to have owned it between 1873-1884. It’s the Deacon Edward Taylor house at 9 Thomas Street.

Dr. Clark was actually the great-grandson of Deacon Edward Taylor through his daughter Alice Taylor (1789-1883), who married Dr. Clark’s grandfather Henry Finney Clark (1790-1820). Alice Taylor lived in Deacon Taylor’s house for many years as a widow and I think her grandson Dr. Clark spent some of those years with her. There are more details in the biographical appendices to my edition of Dr. Clark’s novel Susan’s Obituary (Moshassuck, 1996). Edward Taylor was a deacon in the Congregational (later Unitarian) Church on Benefit Street. My recollection is that his secular occupation was coachmaker. He lived into the early 1830s, I am recalling 1752 as his year of birth.
