Daz/Poser toon specialists 3D Universe have given their website a makeover. It looks as though it’s configured for an iPad now…
Some bits and bobs appear to have been lost in the move, like the free Mimic files for Noodle the Cat. Plus, their webmaster broke all their inbound product Web links with a new page URL system — and is wasting all that prior traffic by just serving up a “404 not found” notice for the broken links.
I just took a look. It is a shame that they are losing all that link juice that way. I’ve seen sites disappear from Google overnight for not having correct 301 redirects in place.
It looks like they’re using .NET for this site. I’m not sure how it’s done on that platform, but if it were using Apache they could probably repair the damage rather quickly with some htaccess action.
I suppose if people are able to search the site and find the products they want they will be happy, though.
Update: found the missing Mimic files, on their South African domain…
