Time for another monthly survey of what’s new and notable for Poser and DAZ Studio.
As usual freebies are only mentioned if commercial use, or such obvious fan-art that no-one would think of using them commercially.
Science-fiction:
Krylla Character Morph for Genesis 8 Female.
Krylla is probably set to arrive on your space station in ShaaraMuse3D’s Photo Props: SciFi Transporter for Poser and DAZ. His props are always good for close-ups.
Need a pet for Krylla? Kelmore For Poser, a ‘creature of the shallows’ on an alien world. A Sixus 1 creature I’d not seen before.
1971’s Futuristic Interior for Poser. His models are made with software that makes the lines always look good in Poser’s Comic Book mode. Also for DAZ.
Kitbashers 041 for G8M, possibly useful for a sci-fi story with a slightly retro 1980s bio-war theme.
Solo 034 for G83. Lots of material zones, and you could probably work this up to be something quite slick.
Stardust Saloon, a generic ‘sleazy space-opera dive-bar’ for DAZ Studio. By Stonemason.
A usefully general short-sci-fi style Hr-258 hair for V4.
A full free NASA Astronaut for M3 for Poser.
Klingon D5 Class Starship for Poser. For fan-art only, obviously.
Star Trek: The Original Series, G8M Tunics of all types. Free. For fan-art only, obviously.
Steampunk:
1971’s classic Merchant Airship, now for DAZ Studio.
AJ Steampunk Grandfather Clock for Poser and DAZ.
AJ Steampunk Props Set 1, a steampunk lab-bench with props. The maker has a series of such prop sets. Including the ‘years-old now, but still magnificent’ AJ SteamFlyer 2.0 which you can currently pick up for $5.
A free rustic Toilet Outhouse that feels more steampunk than medieval. Just add some steam-gubbins from your runtime.
I see Sixus 1’s excellent Clockwork Creatures: Thompson C. Squirrel For Poser is back, at the RenderHub store.
Fantasy:
The new MDD Zarina character/material set for G8F. Requires Victoria 8.
A free Celes morph, a basic elf head-morph for G9.
Leafy Jewelry for LaFemme for Poser.
A full Magic Potion Shop for DAZ Studio. Possibly useful with the dForce Belladonna’s Broomstick Brigade Novice Witch Outfit for Genesis 9.
The semi-toon Witchbroom.
Halloween:
The new Red Howling Hood G8F.
Cybertenko’s Phantom of the Opera – Sharply Dressed and Phantom of the Opera – Eric the Phantom (part two). Also looks useful as an ‘enemy leader’ in a steampunk or fantasy setting.
For Blender, a free Abandoned Attic scene.
The horrid Red Bull can, essential accessory of the brain-dead.
Figures, poses and clothes:
100 Everyday Reactions for G3F.
Free Vellus Hair for G9.
Storybook:
Special Place for DAZ Studio. Seems to be three static props, plus texture-sets(?). More(?) texture sets here. Looks great, but I’d have welcomed more detail on the exact contents.
Baseball cap with short haircut built-in. For G8 and G9. Could be usefully generic, for those with an American setting for their storybook story.
La Robe for La Femme. I’m not sure if it’s even possible to make La Femme into a girl-figure, but if it is then this would be a suitable ‘storybook’ dress.
Hairbrush Collection for Genesis 8 and 9, and poses.
A free Simarter Clothing Rack. It seems you can’t have the hangers ‘act like a figure’, and thus tell the dForce clothing to hang on them.
Mobility Scooter for Genesis 8 and 9. Get a grandma in your storybook tale, too. ‘Cause she’s really got a magic hover-scooter that can fly away on adventures.
Animals:
Fox Original Standalone Figure with fur.
Chocos the Monkey for Genesis 9, with fur.
Free Simple Pose Presets for Horse 3 and Pose Control Presets for DAZ Horse 3 in DAZ Studio. Including “Tail Fluff”, by the look of it.
Landscapes and large buildings:
SBibb Limestone Cave Vignette.
ShaaraMuse3D’s 3D Scenery: Deserted Church Ruin. Possible also useful for Halloween scenes.
1stBastion FireHouse Station, a modern American fire-house (fire station). Possibly most useful if you’re making training videos.
Peanut Cactus – Flowering Cacti.
The entire Solar System for DAZ Studio!
Historical:
Hector and the Trojans Armor Bundle. See also the Pegasus Bundle for DAZ Horse 3 and Medusa for Genesis 9 Bundle (Pegasus traditionally ‘sprang from the blood’ of the defeated Medusa, in the old Greek myths).
Roman Artifacts VI has a Roman Empire era sheilded battering-ram. Also a Roman Artifacts IV – Legion Marching Camp. The box tents here could also serve as pre-1919 ‘desert expedition’ archaeologist tents.
Traditional dress Massai Set for G8.
Ken Gilliland’s Mission Bells is now on Renderosity. I’m fairly sure this used to be on HiveWire. A complete Franciscan courtyard monastery for his birds to fly above. I think that’s the idea… it gives a backdrop to flying birds.
Treasure Maps for Poser and DAZ.
Cybertenko’s new MultiSword.
Headgear 019 MMKBG, looking like good sensible cowboy and ranch hats for G8.
A Western Gallow Turntable for the Western Railroad Construction Kit.
A mid-late 1800s Olde Victorian Theater interior.
A free 1930s Marlene Dietrich headmorph for V3 low-res.
Love Machine, a super-tastic 1950s juke box.
A free Neon Bar Sign.
The 1990’s Audio Gadgets Bundle. Yup, the 1990s is now officially history.
Scripts:
The free Load Specific Map Script (PoserPython) for Poser… “change a texture map, without changing a transparency map — or vice versa”.
Genesis 8 no eyes and/or no mouth geografts. Potentially useful for those who want to render a dummy-figure as an artist’s guide for drawing comics, and then hand-draw / paint the eyes and mouth on the render.
Utilities and similar:
A big free list of Celebrity Lookalikes for DAZ Studio. In the format: Celebrity -> product name.
A free Character Splitter For DAZ Studio. Split a figure into body / head / full. Apparently this works for all Genesis figures.
Tutorials and guides:
“Using morphs and magnets for realistic adjustments – super easy!” in Poser.
Esha’s DAZ Studio Training Advanced 01 – Fabric Thickness in dForce.
David Revoy’s time-tested solution for mobile digital painting on the GNU/Linux OS.
A new survey of free multitrack audio editors for desktop Windows PCs.
Proper wireless RF big headphones for artists working at desktop PCs. Not the infernal Bluetooth type!
Also, I’ve added the PoserDirect Tutorials page to my Technical Search Engine.
Those are my picks for June 2023. More next month.
