Just released, the Poser plugin “Talk Designer Assistant 2” for Poser 9 / Poser Pro 2012, from Andre O’Brien at Anakele Vision and Design…
“make virtually any figure compatible with Poser’s Talk Designer” [Version 2] “now includes automated speech animation processing, for rock solid results without the need to download any further assistance scripts.” [and it] “allows characters with large amounts of facial morph dependencies (such as Michael 5, Tyler GND, and Miki 4) to work directly with Poser’s Talk Designer”
Update: said to work with Poser 11.
New ten-minute video tutorial by Gary Miller. He makes a simple streetlamp in DAZ’s Hexagon 3.0 modelling software, then shows how to export it to Poser. Finally he uses Poser to texture and light the streetlamp…

The Look At My Hair plugin for DAZ Studio 4.x is moving forwards. The plugin is currently in testing but the developer promises that it’s simple to use, and that it allows really easy hair styling on characters. Here’s the latest test render…

The new v.1.0 final stable release of LuxRender is out now. It’s a high-end “physically based and unbiased rendering engine” that works with Poser Pro 2014 and DAZ Studio. Free software, both for personal and commercial use.
For a survey of other high-end external render engines for Poser, see my posting from back in March 2012.
Interesting new item at Renderosity from a new vendor, Fluffy Cat for Poser, for $25. Requires Poser, Millenium Cat, Classic Cats textures for MilCat, and RTEJava (for which Fluffy Cat’s readme has full instructions). The pictures are certainly nice, but the description is a bit vague and very minimal…
“Produces a lovely, fluffy and dynamic fur on the Millennium Cat […] made in the Poser hair room.”

Update: Now at Hivewire. The Java appears to be a utility needed to check if you have MilCat in your runtime, and if so then it unpacks matched hair-base geometries?
New details of the Service Release 3 (SR3) upgrade for Poser Pro 2014 and Poser users…
“deep Poser Pro integration with ZBrush”
What’s more, the ZBrush GoZBrush plugin will be free. It’s the software that lets ZBrush ‘talk’ to Poser…
“The GoZ [GoZBrush] plugin is available within SR3 at no cost for Poser Pro 2012 users”
Here’s a video showing GoZ at work with DAZ Studio Pro. It now looks like Poser is set to get the same functionality, soon…
SR3 should be available from today, at the official Poser website.
Reality 3 has been announced for Poser at SIGGRAPH 2012…
“SIGGRAPH 2012 attendees can get a special sneak-peak of the upcoming Reality 3 for Poser, launching globally in November 2012. Reality 3 for Poser gives Poser users access to the power of LuxRender, providing unbiased, physically accurate, and GPU rendering to help artists produce gorgeous hyper-realistic illustrations and images.”
Price is mooted to be $59.95 at launch.
Talking of ‘physically accurate’, currently on a special sale at DAZ is the photoreal V4 Elite Texture: Amy for just $8.99. Her textures come with installers for DAZ Studio, Poser, and DAZ Carrara. If you already have the V4 Elite bundle, you already have the Amy textures packs.

OBJ Import Plus for Poser. A new free plugin for Poser users, which extends your options for importing and handling 3d models in OBJ format.

Did you know that Poser Pro 2014 can directly import Lightwave models? Normally the hardcore modelers who use Lightwave will export a 3d model from Lightwave to the universal OBJ format. But sometimes you’ll find a free or older model that’s only in .lwo format… Poser can handle these…

I’m very pleased to see that the DAZ 3D Bridge for Photoshop has now been updated to work with DAZ Studio 4, and with the versions of Photoshop Extended that are higher than CS3. The 3D Bridge software connects DAZ Studio directly to Photoshop, and this updated version is currently still free! Go grab the new version now, before DAZ decides to slap a price on it!

Do you have a scene made with the free Blender, that you want to render complete in DAZ Studio? Silvio has written a new Blender plugin that claims to do that…
“I have written a plugin for Blender 2.6.2 bridge, to DAZ Studio 3.1 or up. It exports the 3D geometry to DAZ Studio, via [Blender’s] Collada export, and it exacts camera animation positions, rotation, dolly, zoom, DOF…”
Probably not textures, though, if it’s a Cycles scene. I know from experience that nothing on earth will export one of those with textures.
Here’s his detailed 24-minute video tutorial…
McjTeleblender is a…
“new kit of scripts designed to quickly export DAZ Studio scenes, even animations, and render them in Blender using Blender’s GPU-accelerated ray-trace renderer named Cycles.”
It’s early days, and the scripts are still being patched. But it all appears to work and offers yet another (and free!) option for high-end raytracing from DAZ Studio scenes.
The new 3DXchange 5 Pro conversion tool is out. Here’s how to convert and auto-rig a DAZ Studio character, for use in the real-time software iClone…
This new version of iClone converts to the standard iClone format, so characters can accept all standard motions files. A version that can also convert for facial animation will be available soon.
