This alongside a 30%-off coupon (now expired) for Poser 13, which kind of suggests Poser 14 is coming? It would make sense to launch in midsummer, and have it bug-fixed and ready for the ‘back to school / university’ crowd in September. Just my guess.
Hopefully the “HUGE” is something really game-changing like Poser 14 with a local-&-free AI ‘style change’ module to render Poser scenes in different styles. And not just another base figure such as La Femme 3. I know they’re concerned about copyright in terms of the back-in-the-day training of the Stable Diffusion AI image-generators, but ‘style makeover’ options are emerging which would presumably bypass such concerns.
I’m assuming that this turned out to be PoserPlay, which was about as exciting to existing Poser users as watching paint dry. Seriously have doubts that the team understands just how much Poser is going to go the way of the dodo unless they start integrating AI into their product fast.
Yes, if their marketeer really thought PoserPlay was “HUGE”, then they needed a better marketeer. Yes, I agree – they have to integrate AI, ideally free and ideally in a way that makes it really easy to get a 1:1 correspondence between the Poser render(s) and what Stable Diffusion generates, so that the exact clothing and colours can be retained. Poses and faces we can do, but keeping clothing/colour consistency is the next barrier, if Poser is to remain a useful too for making comics. Now that we have image-editing/style-changing AI like Flux Kontext, there’s no “oh, we can’t use AI because… copyright” excuse any more. Actually, integrating ComfyUI is probably just as simple as opening up the PostFX panel to hook into Python scripting, and providing a couple of Comfy workflows and a Photoshop script – I may get around to that myself, eventually!
