Just released, a new standalone DAZ / Poser figure from Nursoda, Brulba…
Love the “ancient shaman” look, but I’d also love to see a more futuristic “sci-fi” look for him from a third-party.

Available now, a new issue of 3D Art Direct magazine, the DAZ Studio or Poser -friendly 3D art magazine.
FoRender has a new range of fantasy staffs for DAZ Studio and Poser.
Super new Syd Mead -style chunky sci-fi vehicle, Explorer, just released for DAZ Studio or Poser…
I’m hoping we’ll see more like it from Simon-3D.
Cool new Lovecraftian release for DAZ Studio or Poser from coflek-gnorg, The Pit…

An interesting tutorial on paint-ifying a DAZ or Poser CG picture using Photoshop blend-layers and filters, rather than actual digital brush overpainting.

He uses the Sketchy Painting and Old Book Illustrator addon filters in the Filter Forge plugin (which, sadly, sells for the crazy price of $149 for even the Basic edition).
With the 100th anniversary of the First World War (1914-1918, aka “World War One”, “World War I”, or “The Great War” of 1914-1919) just around the corner next year, I thought I’d do a survey of characters, props, and 3D models available for DAZ Studio or Poser. Some I passed by, as they were too poorly textured or too old now. Here are those that made it…
Uniforms:
In HM’s Service is a solid collection of British uniforms and accessories for Poser…
Poserworld also have their own WWI makeover textures for the RCMP outfit. Poserworld has vanished.
Craft and vehicles:
American Field Ambulance of 1918 with period body stretcher (there’s also a 1917 version)…
The MKV Male Tank was a late entrant into the war…
Royal Flying Corps DH.2 World War I Aircraft (sadly “no longer available for download”)…
And a Thomas Morse 4CC biplane complete with textures for the U.S. Army in France (1917-1918)…
You’ll find many other WWI-era biplane aircraft for free on Google 3D Warehouse.
While there are plenty of steampunk and fantasy airships, there doesn’t appear to be an authentic German Zeppelin or British WW1 Navy airship 3d model available for DAZ/Poser. Nor any First World War U-boat submarines, of the type that menaced the eastern seaboard of the USA. 3D Warehouse is the best place to look for those, where you will also find a quality 1918 Lancia German armoured car.
Barracks:
Standard barracks hut with detailed interior…
Trenches:
There’s also a free trenches bonus model for Poser, although I suspect the machine gun that comes with it would be too modern for the First World War (there’s a quality British Browning machine gun on 3D Warehouse, which could be saved out as an OBJ)…
There was also an excellent “Battlefields: the Ridge” set for Poser (possibly from Coflek-Gnorg?), but which no longer appears to be for sale…
Heavy guns:
The Flak 88 and its Flak 88 ammo (although possibly a WWII gun?)…
World Dominance is a big greasy heavy German gun…
Ruins:
Stonemason’s quality Urban Ruins might be your first port of call for a ruined town in WW1…
Warzone is also a major pack of ruins…
Additional update, Oct 2013: Red Cross Aid Station.
I’d somehow completely missed that the famous 3D content-maker Stonemason has a superb new model out, which was released mid January. Stonemason’s The Mech Enforcer looks like the perfect urban mech to complement his near-future sci-fi cities. Hi-res textures, and it also comes with DAZ mats.

Shown here without textures, so you can see the quality of the modelling.
35% off all items in the steampunk category at the DAZ Store.
Luxion has announced a beta of Keyshot version 4. It’s a simple and stable standalone high-end renderer, that’s very easy to use with characters exported as FBX from DAZ Studio. It’s quite expensive, but if you can get some academic ID there’s an educational version for $95.00.
* updated, cleaner user interface.
* enhancements to material editing.
* new material types that turn any geometry into a local light source.
* enhancements to translucent materials.
* faster real-time rendering performance.
* improved render output.
There’s a cool new steampunk-style submarine modular interior for Poser and DAZ, the Nautilus. Looks perfect for creating an undersea Captain Nemo scene…
This could be paired with the old steampunk submarine exterior from Meshbox, the Clockwork Steampunk Submarine. Sadly though this model was never for sale — being only ever available as a bonus freebie when you purchased a whole set of their Clockwork-series steampunk 3d models…
Over on the offical DAZ Forums, the chance to win all of Stonemason’s back-catalogue of 3D scenes and characters for DAZ Studio or Poser. To enter, post your pictures in the Forum’s competition-thread from today (25th January), until 15th March 2013.
Cool new standalone semi-toon characters for DAZ Studio or Poser from Moscowich80, on Content Paradise…

Nice little tutorial at 3D Universe, on making a basic spacesuit helmet using DAZ Studio, for the new 3DU toon Monkey…
