A nice free 1970s style retro super-computer for Poser, from Sparky. Could be useful as a background for a old pulp magazine cover render with semi-toon characters, such as Dr. Pitterbill.

Universal Clothing plugin for CrossDresser
I just spotted a goodie from the maker of the excellent CrossDresser clothing conversion utility for DAZ 3D and Poser. Universal Clothing Plugin will…
“convert the clothing automatically and then load it into your scene already conformed to your character. You no longer need to think about which CrossDresser settings to use to get the best conversion, because the plugin takes care of that for you.”
You do, of course, already need to have CrossDresser and the relevant character licences.
There are now 65 freebies for DAZ/Poser clothing that allow you to use the Universal Clothing plugin with them. Such as Universal Strawberry Dress for V4…
Although you will also need to track down the original content and install it in your runtime for the Universal version of it to work. The original is not always linked from its Universal version’s page — in this case the required base content is EvilInnocence’s Strawberry for V4.
Cthulhu Rising lowered
The excellent Cthulhu Rising currently 70% off, down to $10.49.
Steam snail
Sometimes it feels like all the outstanding DAZ Studio and Poser content developers just go to the beach during July-Aug. And who could blame them? But London224 is still on the job, and has just released an awesome new SteamPunk Snail & Baby…
Nursoda’s website returns!
Nursoda’s website, back online! Grab those freebies while you can!
Da Vinci’s glider
Wow, a lovely new Da Vinci glider from London224, based on the famous medieval-era design. Plus a pose for M4. Poser-only, so I’m not sure how it looks in DAZ. Want!
I can imagine this with a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic steampunk pilot, flying over the ruined cities scenes I posted on yesterday.
Stonemason ruins it again!
New Stonemason content! He has a new set of detailed Rubble 2 props and Rubble 3 pack, to accompany his previous Rubble 1 pack. As with all Stonemason, you know the quality you’ll get is going to be superb in either Daz or Poser.
These props add to Stonemason’s now increasingly complete City Ruins series for DAZ Studio and Poser:
City Ruins: Vehicles
Derelict Urban Corners
City Ruins one
City Ruins two
City Ruins three
City Ruins four
If the thought of lighting and getting a distance-haze in such large spaces puts you off, have a look at Dreamlight’s quality Light and Go: Urban Ruins and his light set Earthquake for City Ruins.
See also my step-by-step tutorial on getting distance haze and weather effects on big urban scenes in DAZ Studio 3.
Tron-tastic!
New at Runtime DNA, a cool little Sci-Fi Lounge stage set, currently on sale at just $2.50 until 21st July 2013. Comes with lights. Daz users should note that the materials only work in Poser.
Puss in Boots
The developer of Crossdresser, the useful software to convert clothes for DAZ Studio and Poser, has just released some new character conversion modules. Now on offer is a Sassafras license for the excellent new semi-toon cat. Now you can assemble him/her a cool 17th century sword-fighting outfit and some ten-gallon boots — to get a ‘Puss in Boots’.

To the stars!
Remember that old children’s book on outer space when you were a kid, the one with an awesome 1950s painting of the little astronomer watching the stars through an enormous telescope? London224’s super new MS13 Discovery Telescope is the telescope you need to recreate such scenes in DAZ Studio and Poser.
He also has a super new Steampunk Fish…
He’s the guy who did the recent fabulous Trojan Horse, and it’s great to see modelling of this quality. But do be careful of his new Time Machine model, — as it’s a little too similar to the machine designed for the recent movie remake of The Time Machine (terrible movie, by the way, get the 1960 version instead). That design is skirting a little too close to movie copyrights, so I’d stick to non-commercial use only for that particular model.
Bite the bullet
New free webinar tutorial for users of Poser 2014. This one is on the Bullet Physics in Poser, so will be of interested to animators. Thursday, 27th June 2013 at 11:00AM PDT, for one hour.
“the finer details and settings for creating both Soft Body and Rigid Body Dynamics using Bullet Physics in Poser 10 and Poser Pro 2014.”
SR1 for Poser Pro 2014
That was quick! Out now, the Service Release 1 patch for Poser Pro 2014.
Get dressed with Sergio – Poser clothing creation masterclass
New podcast from 3D Art Direct magazine, on how Sergio Martinez from Xurge3D creates custom outfits for Poser. Sergio also has…
“his three part live webinar masterclass on Saturday 8th and 9th June 2013.”
DAZ Carrara gets LuxRender
Are you a DAZ Carrara user, but jealous of the DAZ Studio and Poser plugins for the free advanced LuxRender 3D renderer? Well, now there’s a new Luxrender plugin for Carrara! It’s called Luxus for Carrara and has just been released, at an introductory price of 30% off. There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and it works on Windows or Mac.
Freebies and an extra manual for Carrara Luxus can be had over at the Carrara Cafe website.

Goth boys: Daz and Poser content survey
This survey is a short follow-up to my ‘everyday’ goth girls survey. Goth boys are much harder to find for DAZ Studio and Poser, but I managed to find some quality 3D content in the same vein as my previous survey. Nothing here is too medieval fantasy, or s&m vampire, or camp 1970s disco-leathers. Just a more contemporary darkwave / goth boy look:
Duncan is an excellent M4 custom-made figure. Requires the Michael 4 Morphs++.
Dark Thorn for M4 and its Graver addon gives you a standard set of goth boy clothes for M4…
If you use Daz Studio 4.x and Genesis then have a look at Onyx for Genesis Male and its Nightwatcher and Darkwave textures addon…
Onxy also includes boots, belt, choker, bracers and piercings. More piercings in Goth Top & Peircing for M4. Update: This appears to be one of the items which vanished with the demise of the RuntimeDNA store.
Also for Genesis is a high-quality standard Main St. style black hoodie, Tre. It’s more skater than goth, but might look good combined with other more outre goth gear or for use with a wannabee-goth junior sidekick…
The textures look unconvincing, but Amazing Coat for M4 might be the black fanboy trenchcoat you’re looking for…
More boots needed? Have a look at Full Metal Stompers for M4…
Hair? Pure Hair: Punk can be easily turned from ginger to black with its wide range of MAT options…
Makeup? There’s hardly anything for goth boys, but Guy Liner M4 might be worth a look… Update: This appears to be one of the items which vanished with the demise of the RuntimeDNA store.
Toons? Again, there’s hardly anything for Daz and Poser goth boys, but Night Slayers: Mesh Tank for Chip looks like high quality texturing. It seems to be standalone, requiring only the Chip boy character.
That’s it!
