Oh dear. News of another casualty of the horrid marketing-led “total UI makeover” trend in software and cloud services. Aka the… “We no longer want our existing customers, who spent years learning and becoming comfortable with the UI, and they can sod off” trend.
This time it’s HitFilm, the popular mid-range budget alternative to Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. HitFilm 12.0 now has “A completely new UI design”, and is due at the end of February 2019. Lagging users have until the end of February to upgrade to the current version, with the known UI.
Why can’t software makers do what the makers of the music players do — make their interfaces ‘skinnable’?
