Lovecraftian sources have the poem appearing in the <em>Providence Evening News<\/em> on 5th January 1917.  But here it is in <em>The Cambridge Chronicle<\/em>, 6th January 1917, possibly with new biographical details in the introduction&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/gamwell1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/gamwell1.jpg?w=138\" alt=\"gamwell1\" width=\"138\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7752\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/gamwell2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/gamwell2.jpg?w=108\" alt=\"gamwell2\" width=\"108\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7753\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The same poem appeared again in <em>The Cambridge Tribune<\/em> on 13th January 1917, under the simple title &#8220;Phillips Gamwell&#8221;, this time with a fine photograph of cousin Phillips&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/phillips_gamwell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/phillips_gamwell.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"phillips_gamwell\" width=\"529\" height=\"898\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7754\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and the following week there was also an addendum on the photographer.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re also informed by <em>The Cambridge Tribune<\/em> of 2nd January 1904 that Phillips Gamwell was visiting Providence. Lovecraft then age 13, Phillips aged around 6.
