{"id":64798,"date":"2024-07-13T02:41:47","date_gmt":"2024-07-13T02:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/?p=64798"},"modified":"2025-09-07T16:01:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T16:01:14","slug":"the-haverhill-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/index.php\/2024\/07\/13\/the-haverhill-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"The Haverhill incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHAV local radio, Haverhill, <a href=\"https:\/\/whav.net\/2024\/07\/08\/documentary-strange-magick-films-in-haverhill-explores-mystery-between-h-p-lovecraft-and-crowley\/\">reports last month&#8217;s filming<\/a> of&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;a new documentary, Strange Magick, filmed partly in Haverhill and with a significant focus on the city in the 1920s [&#8230;] Haverhill native and WHAV writer Dave Goudsward helps investigate the connection between Howard Philips Lovecraft and infamous occultist Aleister Crowley&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Goudsward is also an executive producer of this&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>documentary [that] explores a possible conspiracy between them [Lovecraft and Crowley] produced by their mutual acquaintance with fellow amateur author Myrta Alice Little.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems to be taken for granted that the occult loon Crowley was there as a spy or somesuch, and that they knew each other, since there are&#8230; &#8220;re-enactments of pivotal moments in Lovecraft, Crowley\u2019s and Little\u2019s acquaintanceship&#8221; and apparently the makers even rope old &#8216;Tryout&#8217; Smith(!) into the conspiracy, all in an effort to highlight&#8230; &#8220;Crowley\u2019s actions in the United States&#8221; for British intelligence.
