And I see it&#8217;s now <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/45XVmt1\">on Amazon<\/a> in ebook and paper, and appears to be shipping.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Foreword by S. T. Joshi.<\/p>\n<p>Introduction.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 1: On Lovecraft\u2019s Lifelong Relationship With Wonder.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 2: Howard Phillips Lovecraft: Romantic on the Nightside.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 3: \u2018Now Will You Be Good?\u2019: Lovecraft, Teetotalism and Philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 4: Lovecraft\u2019s Garden: Heart\u2019s Blood at the Root.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 5: Weird Fiction: A Catalyst for Wonder.<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 6: H. P. Lovecraft and the Dunsanian Conjuration.<\/p>\n<p>Afterword.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I recall that one or even two of these have been in <em>The Lovecraft Annual<\/em>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Also, in the left-leaning <em>Times Literary Supplement<\/em> this week ($ paywall), a review of the academic book <em>Horror as Racism in H.P. Lovecraft<\/em> by another author. Rather amusingly, the reviewer implies that the book&#8217;s author has not read &#8220;The Horror at Red Hook&#8221;, which one might think would be the vital ur-text for such a study. He also notes that several of the biographical details are off&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[his explanations] can seem heavy-handed and his belabouring of the author unconvincing. [&#8230;] why call Thomas F. Malone the \u201cprivileged, white, Anglo-Saxon protagonist\u201d of \u201cThe Horror at Red Hook\u201d, when he is an Irish-American policeman, described as \u201cthe sensitive Celt\u201d? [&#8230;] Steadman\u2019s Lovecraft, meanwhile, can do nothing right (his mother\u2019s mental state is blamed on the fourteen-year-old Lovecraft\u2019s inability to get a job)&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scholar Jan B.
