This is not the later handsome illustrated edition, which I find is utterly available except physically in a few Irish libraries. So my new assemblage from the original magazine serial will have to do for now. You&#8217;re welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Also in &#8216;choice obscurities&#8217;, new on Archive.org is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/the-armchair-detective-v-05-n-04-1972-07\/page\/n15\/mode\/2up?\"><em>The Armchair Detective<\/em> for July 1972<\/a>, which considered &#8220;A. Merritt&#8217;s Mysteries&#8221;. Merritt being a Lovecraft fave. On the novel <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gutenberg.net.au\/ebooks06\/0607491h.html\">Creep, Shadow!<\/a><\/em> (<em>Argosy<\/em>, August 1934) the author of the article writes&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The themes of the book &mdash; reincarnation, sympathetic magic through shadows, and the re-enactment of an ancient myth of Brittany &mdash; are methodically laid out and examined intellectually before the author proceeds to the action. There are flashes of the old poetic imagery, and some of Merritt&#8217;s finest writing is in the &#8220;shadowland&#8221; sequence.
