Though we&#8217;ll still have to wait a while, and even then its release will manage to miss the pre-Halloween market. 24th November 2023 is the current date for the $30 single volume. The original from manga master Tanabe was first published in Japanese, concluding there in November 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/lovecraft-shadow-over-innsmouth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/lovecraft-shadow-over-innsmouth.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"747\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-58759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/lovecraft-shadow-over-innsmouth.jpg 600w, https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/lovecraft-shadow-over-innsmouth-528x747.jpg 528w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Italy recently saw it released as a two-volume translation totalling 480 pages&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/inns2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/inns2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"436\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-57297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also noted in comics, <a href=\"https:\/\/theslingsandarrows.com\/marvel-visionaries-steranko\/\"><em>Slings &#038; Arrows<\/em> has a new review of<\/a> Jim Steranko&#8217;s <em>Marvel Visionaries<\/em> collection (2002) and the reviewer, as well as some classic <em>Captain America<\/em> issues, notes the following&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Lovecraft-inspired \u2018At the Stroke of Midnight\u2019 [is] beautifully drawn, with characters navigating panoramic gothic backdrops, through rows of micro-panels (pictured, right) capturing moment-to-moment reactions. Steranko\u2019s use of extreme tonal contrasts prefigures <em>V for Vendetta<\/em> and <em>Sin City<\/em>. It\u2019s a visual delight, and not reprinted elsewhere. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The tale was originally a seven-pager in the spinner-rack comic <em>Tower of Shadows<\/em> #1 (September 1969), and it appears that Steranko also had standalone strips in later editions of the same title. Having tracked this particular strip down at a blog as scans, I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s rather more &#8216;haunted house&#8217; than Lovecraftian (possibly the reviewer was thinking of Derleth&#8217;s &#8216;collaborations&#8217;), but with some effective twists and moments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dark Horse has finally dated Gou Tanabe&#8217;s &#8220;The Shadow Over Innsmouth&#8221; comics adaptation in its English translation.
