Sadly it&#8217;s not an unknown fantasy to add to those in his <em>Dickon Bend-the-Bow and other Wonder Tales<\/em>, but rather one of his early wry &#8216;backwoods America&#8217; yarns titled &#8220;The Reporter and the Bear&#8221;. It appeared in <em>The Atlanta Constitution<\/em> for 2nd July 1899, and has popped up now because Archive.org has been ingesting newspapers on microfilm. Thankfully it&#8217;s readable.
