My favorite was <em>Vet Times<\/em>, which reported&#8230; &#8220;Tech breakthrough translates cat calls, meows and purrs&#8221;. The runner up was the report that French scientists have cross-bred and tweaked banana plants&#8230; to grow meaty-tasting sausages instead of bananas. And solar panels that work in the dark, though I think that one&#8217;s been done before.<\/p>\n<p>The favourite &#8220;not an April Fools&#8217; Day joke&#8221; is <a href=\"https:\/\/gemini.circumlunar.space\/\">Project Gemini<\/a> which revives Gopher, and has built a lightweight texty altWeb with ascii-art and Atom RSS on top. There&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/gmi.skyjake.fi\/lagrange\/\">Windows browser for it<\/a> and a search engine [<code>gemini:\/\/geminispace.info\/documentation\/searching<\/code>]. Homepages are &#8216;capsules&#8217;, blogs are &#8216;gemlogs&#8217;. No pictures allowed, except ascii-art [<code>gemini:\/\/dgold.eu\/17.gmi<\/code>]. You could probably do dancing hamsters, if you scrolled a page of that stuff fast enough.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/sample.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/sample.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"320\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-46616\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sadly WordPress can&#8217;t handle <em>gemini:<\/em> links, and thus they&#8217;re here given [<code>in the WordPress 'code' tags<\/code>]. But once you have the Gemini browser installed and are at <a href=\"https:\/\/ajtjp.com\/software\/titan\/titan.html\">a live <em>gemini:<\/em> protocol link<\/a>, your regular Web browser should ask if you always want the Gemini browser to open links of that type.
