Partly because the cover recalls for me the boredom engendered in a boy by C.S. Lewis&#8217;s show-stopping <em>The Voyage of the Dawn Treader<\/em> (I think it was that one, in <em>Narnia<\/em> series), rather than the creepy wonders of encountering Lovecraft&#8217;s Dreamlands.  And then there&#8217;s that awful garish typography and equally off-putting subtitle: <em>Roleplaying Beyond the Wall of Sleep<\/em>. When did &#8220;Beyond the Wall of Sleep&#8221; enter the Dreamlands canon? Nothing about the cover invites confidence in the likely contents.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/naff.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/naff.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"535\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-43503\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But who knew there was this older cover, which makes the thing look very much more appealing and is a nice bit of Lovecraftian art in its own right&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/call-cthulhu-supplement-p-lovecrafts_front.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/call-cthulhu-supplement-p-lovecrafts_front.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"732\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/call-cthulhu-supplement-p-lovecraft-side.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/call-cthulhu-supplement-p-lovecraft-side.jpg?w=124\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-43501\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, if you want to check out the CoC Dreamlands as it currently stands (with Gazetteer, creature guide and map, as well as RPG adventures), there&#8217;s no need to pay silly collector prices for it.
