It&#8217;s actually more a Euro-style &#8216;BD album&#8217; in page-count and large 17&#8243; x 24&#8243; size.  The book shipped in July 2020. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/redh.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/redh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"693\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42074\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The artist is Stefano Cardoselli. The publisher also offer his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independentlegions.com\/store\/p240\/reanimator.html\">&#8220;Herbert West&#8221;<\/a> (March 2020) and his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independentlegions.com\/store\/p278\/abitatorelago.html\">the Lovecraftian &#8220;The Inhabitant of The Lake&#8221; by Ramsey Campbell<\/a> is due in December 2020. Could be an opportunity here for an Anglosphere publisher to translate and bundle all three. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/herb.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/herb.jpg?w=491\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"678\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42083\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/lake.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/lake.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"679\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42082\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>There&#8217;s also yet another graphic novel of <em>At The Mountains of Madness<\/em>, from Adam Fyda. This appeared in July&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/the-mountains-of-madness.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/the-mountains-of-madness.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"816\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42068\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>British illustrator Dave Shephard has also announced what appears to be a melding of &#8220;Dagon&#8221; and &#8220;The Call of Cthulhu&#8221;, which bills itself in the book&#8217;s title as a &#8220;graphic novel&#8221; &mdash; but in the blurb as an &#8220;illustrated adaptation&#8221;.  Due Spring 2021.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Also in graphic novels, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/junkyard.blog\/2020\/08\/13\/weird-detective-the-stars-are-wrong\/\">The View from the Junkyard<\/a><\/em> recently found a neglected Lovecraftian gem in a graphic novel titled <em>Weird Detective<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The story takes detective fiction and merges it sublimely with the Cthulhu Mythos in ways I\u2019ve seen only in such great books as <em>Shadows over Baker Street<\/em>; a collection of short stories pitting the Great Detective [Holmes] against the Great Old Ones.  Finding something similar in graphic novel format is a treat!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A character that looks like Lovecraft, and he has a talking cat. I like it already.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/talk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/talk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42088\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The View from the Junkyard<\/em>&#8216;s review also notes his disappointment in discovering that this graphic novel was a trade from 2017 (per-issues 2016), and there have been no more in the years since. He wryly points to the huge difficulty involved in simply finding out about completed-story graphics novels of the pulp entertainment type, which get swamped by endless weekly tidal-waves of manga, superhero, and depressive art-school wrist-slashers&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I might need to hire a weird detective to help me find more like this.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Indeed. In the meantime <em>Weird Detective<\/em> is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2QT47Pb\">\u00a39.99<\/a> for Kindle on Amazon UK, where for some reason it&#8217;s been saddled by Dark Horse with a retro Ditko-like cover that really doesn&#8217;t reflect the quality of Guiu Villanova&#8217;s interior artwork or layouts.
