{"id":42018,"date":"2020-09-02T08:25:28","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T05:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tentaclii.wordpress.com\/?p=42018"},"modified":"2020-09-02T08:25:28","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T05:25:28","slug":"moorcography","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/index.php\/2020\/09\/02\/moorcography\/","title":{"rendered":"Moorcography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a new bibliographic website for prolific British writer Michael Moorcock. <a href=\"https:\/\/moorcography.org\/the-works-of-michael-moorcock\/\">The Works Of Michael Moorcock<\/a> is obviously still a work-in-progress, but the pages for books and shorter fiction appear fairly complete. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/moor-lives.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/moor-lives.jpg?w=191\" alt=\"\" width=\"191\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-42019\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moorcock tried his hand with at least one Sherlock Holmes pastiche, but has no overtly Lovecraftian pastiches that I&#8217;m aware of. His leftist attacks on many other writers, often described in words such as &#8216;brusque&#8217; or &#8216;pungent&#8217;, turned out no differently in Lovecraft&#8217;s case and with the usual knocks being offered (&#8220;astonishingly awful prose&#8221; etc). Though Moorcock did briefly &#8216;open source&#8217; his Jerry Cornelius character, and that was most likely partly inspired by the growing awareness of how Lovecraft had shared and thus expanded the Lovecraft Mythos. However Moorcock soon back-tracked on the offer. Thus others had to invent their own &#8216;Cornelius-alikes&#8217; after copyright challenges, such as Bryan Talbot with <em>Luther Arkwright<\/em>, or the great Moebius who had to re-work some of his comics masterpiece <em>The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius<\/em>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a new bibliographic website for prolific British writer Michael Moorcock.
