{"id":41183,"date":"2020-08-12T05:25:59","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T02:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tentaclii.wordpress.com\/?p=41183"},"modified":"2020-08-12T05:25:59","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T02:25:59","slug":"ghostly-haunts-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/index.php\/2020\/08\/12\/ghostly-haunts-28\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghostly Haunts #28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Dark Worlds Quarterly<\/em> peers into the old 1970s Carlton Comics, and particularly their Lovecraftian work in the horror monthies&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/darkworldsquarterly.gwthomas.org\/beyond-the-past-mythos-miniature\/\">Part One<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/darkworldsquarterly.gwthomas.org\/more-h-p-lovecraft-and-charlton-comics\/\">Part Two<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a link on the first post to the <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcomicmuseum.com\/\">Digital Comic Museum<\/a>, of claimed &#8220;public domain&#8221; comics, where they have over 1,000 Charlton scans currently listed.  Though sadly missing is <em>Ghostly Haunts<\/em> #28, December 1972, which <em>Dark Worlds Quarterly<\/em> spots as effectively featuring Lovecraft as both a cover-star and the lead character in &#8220;No Way Out&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/hpl-1972-charlton.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/hpl-1972-charlton.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"269\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41185\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>With art by Joe Staton.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ghostly Haunts<\/em> was Charlton&#8217;s answer to the 1970s titles <em>House of Mystery<\/em> and <em>Tower of Shadows<\/em> and it ran from 1971-78. #28 also had Steve Ditko interior story, but even so it seems fairly easy to find cheap on eBay in a slightly worn condition. However a little searching online <a href=\"http:\/\/diversionsofthegroovykind.blogspot.com\/2010\/05\/boys-from-derby-no-way-out.html\">reveals&#8230; there&#8217;s &#8220;No Way Out&#8221;<\/a>.
