A new photo has surfaced.  The ironwork Cthulhu-a-like I had spotted in a 1965 book of b&amp;w art-photographs of the Brown campus was not inside but rather <em>outside<\/em> the John Carter Brown Library.<\/p>\n<p>Previous photo:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/brownlib.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/brownlib.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"289\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-59462\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/brownlib.jpg 1373w, https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/brownlib-528x289.jpg 528w, https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/brownlib-768x421.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Newly found photo showing exterior context:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/exterior-jcb-brown.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/exterior-jcb-brown.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"398\" height=\"549\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31471\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not quite a lion, because of the dog-like teeth.  The paw is also dog-like rather than cat-like. More like a supernatural hound, then?
