{"id":24779,"date":"2019-04-12T06:41:55","date_gmt":"2019-04-12T03:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tentaclii.wordpress.com\/?p=24779"},"modified":"2019-04-12T06:41:55","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T03:41:55","slug":"stellarium-new-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/tentaclii\/index.php\/2019\/04\/12\/stellarium-new-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Stellarium &#8211; new release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new version of the 3D heavens <a href=\"http:\/\/stellarium.org\/release\/2019\/03\/24\/stellarium-0.19.0.html\">Stellarium software<\/a> is now available, including a &#8220;paleolithic sky culture and landscape&#8221;, two new ancient Babylonian ones, and medieval and modern Chinese sky zodiacs.   It&#8217;s the leading free \/ open source software for such things, that&#8217;s also easy for clueless newbs like myself to use.<\/p>\n<p>You can also zoom back in time with Stellarium, making it rather useful for historians trying to date and geographically locate a text that has astronomical \/ sunrise-sunset time statements in it.  My latest use of it in that way was for my <em>Sir Gawain<\/em> book.
