But some Lovecraft and science fiction.  It was interesting to see, in hi-res form, the Spring 1931 <em>Creeps<\/em> anthology which included a Lovecraft story.  Is it just me, or does the cover face also somewhat resemble Lovecraft on the jaw?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/creeps-1931.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/creeps-1931.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"954\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-23045\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lovecraft remarked in a letter&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Did I tell you that Little Belknap and his Grandpa [Lovecraft] are both to be represented in the coming weird anthology <em>Creeps by Night<\/em> edited by Dashiell Hammett and published by the John Day Co.?  Sonney&#8217;s story will be &#8220;A Visitor from Egypt&#8221;, and mine will be &#8220;The Music of Eric Zann&#8221; &mdash; a favourite of my own, by the way. We got only twenty-five bucks apiece, but the prestige may be helpful in dealings with editors&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/dust.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/dust.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"209\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-23046\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also interesting to get a good look in crisp hi-res at some famous book editions&#8230; <em>Animal Farm<\/em> dressed up like a children&#8217;s story rather than a political neutron-bomb, and Asimov&#8217;s <em>Foundation<\/em> trilogy looking like just another standard 1950s space adventure for boys&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/animalfarm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/animalfarm.jpg?w=487\" alt=\"\" width=\"487\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-23047\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/asim-tril-original.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/tentaclii\/oldimages\/asim-tril-original.jpg?w=529\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"650\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-23048\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heritage Auctions currently has a nice consignment of first editions on the auction block, mostly detective.
