Dagon predates the 1918 book, of course, and also appears in Milton and the Bible&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dagon in Milton &mdash; &#8220;Dagon his name, sea monster, upward man And downward fish&#8221;, Milton, <em>Paradise Lost<\/em>.
