Where <em>do<\/em> they hide? <em><a href=\"https:\/\/poisonedpenpress.com\/books\/the-spoilt-kill\/\">The Spoilt Kill<\/a><\/em> is a &#8216;police procedural&#8217; crime mystery novel published in 1961 and set in what&#8217;s said to be a vividly evoked Potteries of the late 1950s. The obscure title refers to the name for the failed firing of a ceramics kiln.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/oldimages\/9781728219974-300rgb-350x525-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/oldimages\/9781728219974-300rgb-350x525-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"525\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8552\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The novel has recently been republished. By the British Library&#8217;s shovelware division, which has nice covers but doesn&#8217;t have a very high reputation for textual care. Yet at least the book is available again.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly a mass-market crime mystery in the Penguin Crime paperbacks series.
