Garner being the local fantasy writer of Alderley Edge, just a bit north from here and over the border from North Staffordshire. And his book being one I was unaware of, a collection of&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;sixteen essays, prepared lectures, and newspaper columns that return to the mythic themes that Garner\u2019s more than half-century of novels explore&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was issued back in 1997, and has been <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3cDXIQj\">available in Kindle<\/a> since 2014. The review adds&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The collection is in effect an expressionistic autobiography&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interesting. I dug out the contents list&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/oldimages\/contents.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/oldimages\/contents.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"531\" height=\"775\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7940\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As such it seems like a shelf companion to Garner&#8217;s recent autobiography of his childhood, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XFILt5\">Where Shall We Run To<\/a><\/em>, also available in Kindle ebook form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Boston, Michael Grasso at We Are The Mutants reviews Alan Garner\u2019s The Voice That Thunders.
