The virus lockdown has turned a senior reporter at our local <em>The Sentinel<\/em> newspaper into a <a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/2018\/07\/23\/phil-dragashs-unabridged-the-lord-of-the-rings\/\">Tolkien<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tentaclii.wordpress.com\/lovecraft-start-here\/\">Lovecraft<\/a> fan, and spurred by this reading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stokesentinel.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/what-your-favourite-staffordshire-moorlands-4002221\">he&#8217;s turned his attention<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/2019\/12\/28\/the-folk-lore-of-north-staffordshire-version-1-5-2020\/\">our local folklore<\/a>.  There&#8217;s hope for local journalism yet, it seems.  <\/p>\n<p>I wonder if he knows about Tolkien&#8217;s Stoke \/ Gawain-in-the-Moorlands local connections, that Stoke is also home to a leading scholar of Lovecraft&#8217;s life, and that there&#8217;s a handy new <a href=\"https:\/\/jurn.link\/spyders\/2019\/12\/28\/the-folk-lore-of-north-staffordshire-version-1-5-2020\/\">free annotated bibliography<\/a> of all our local folklore?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, who&#8217;d &#8216;a thunk it?
