Especially interesting for me are&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/article\/707036\">&#8220;Doors into Elf-mounds: J.R.R. Tolkien&#8217;s Introductions, Prefaces, and Forewords&#8221;<\/a>. No abstract, but it appears to be a brisk survey and summary of such?<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/article\/707033\">&#8220;Tolkien&#8217;s Classical <i>Beowulf<\/i> and England&#8217;s Heroic Age&#8221;<\/a>.  No abstract, but it appears to be on the influence of Virgil and similar authors Tolkien would have known from his days at school and university?<\/p>\n<p>* And of course the usual <a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/article\/707044\">The Year&#8217;s Work in Tolkien Studies 2015<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/article\/707045\">Bibliography (in English) for 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefreelibrary.com\/Mythlore\/2018\/September\/22-p581\"><em>Mythlore<\/em>, September 2018<\/a> is also available. In which the lead essay is of interest&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefreelibrary.com\/_\/print\/PrintArticle.aspx?id=560556970\">&#8220;&#8221;No Pagan Ever Loved His God&#8221;: Tolkien, Thompson, and The Beautification of The Gods&#8221;<\/a>.  On the Catholic poet <a href=\"https:\/\/librivox.org\/selected-poems-of-francis-thompson-by-francis-thompson\/\">Francis Thompson<\/a>, now deeply unfashionable but whose best work was once ranked alongside Blake. The young Tolkien was a strong late admirer.
