R. R. Tolkien and Sir Israel Gollancz: monsters and critics&#8221;<\/a>.  It&#8217;s in full-text Open Access at the Oxford University Research Archive.  No need to pay $70 for it, in a copy of the latest edition of <em>Tolkien Studies<\/em> where it forms the lead essay. <\/p>\n<p>I also found a <a href=\"https:\/\/annasmol.net\/tag\/tolkien-as-artist-and-writer\/\">summary on the author&#8217;s blog<\/a> of the other interesting essay &#8220;Visualizing the Word: Tolkien as Artist and Writer&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Though sadly the volume also contains the desirable  &#8220;The Year\u2019s Work in Tolkien Studies 2014&#8221;, which isn&#8217;t going to be Open Access any time soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Excellent, I&#8217;ve found the essay &#8220;The mystical philology of J.
