Freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* Newly announced by Tom Shippey&#8217;s growing Uppsala Books imprint, the book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uppsalabooks.com\/the-trees-of-middle-earth\">The Trees of Middle-earth: J.R.R. Tolkien\u2019s Environmental Philosophy<\/a><\/em>. No sign of it on Amazon UK as yet, so presumably due later in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>* The Oxford Tolkien Network&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@TolkienOxford\/videos\">YouTube channel<\/a> has posted six new videos. Including Thomas Honneger on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hI3jzpQobyo\"><em>&#8220;Habitatio est omen<\/em> \u2013 or: Like land, like people&#8221;<\/a>. He discusses how Tolkien skillfully matches character morality with place and language. <\/p>\n<p>* The Wade Center&#8217;s interview podcast has a new YouTube episode <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=q416qyHvFWw\">&#8220;Filming the Lives of Lewis and Tolkien&#8221;, with Kirk Manton<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In this week&#8217;s episode, co-hosts Dr. Jim Beitler and Aaron Hill sit down with Kirk Manton, the producer of a forthcoming five-part documentary about the lives and friendship of Lewis and Tolkien titled, &#8216;The Forge of Friendship&#8217; (Eastgate Creative)&#8221;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>* A new <a href=\"https:\/\/call-for-papers.sas.upenn.edu\/cfp\/2026\/04\/18\/tolkien-barfield-and-the-inklings-questions-of-influence\">call for papers on &#8220;Tolkien, Barfield, and the Inklings: Questions of Influence&#8221;<\/a>, for a Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association conference session. Shared methods, perhaps, or something else? Have Tolkien&#8217;s recently published works, or recent analyses and developments of Barfield&#8217;s &#8220;ancient semantic unity,&#8221; changed this judgment?&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>* The <em>Catholic World Report<\/em> has a new article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicworldreport.com\/2026\/04\/22\/mythology-and-what-it-means-to-be-human\/\">&#8220;Mythology and what it means to be human&#8221;<\/a> which compares Tolkien with T.H. White&#8217;s <em>The Once and Future King<\/em> and Gene Wolfe&#8217;s <em>The Wizard Knight<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>* A student presentation <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.liberty.edu\/research_symp\/2026\/oral_presentations\/102\/\">Appreciating the role of the music in the movie of <em>The Fellowship of the Ring<\/em><\/a> (2026).
