Tolkien\u2019s Creation<\/em> (2025), in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plough.com\/en\/topics\/culture\/literature\/reading-tolkien-for-the-first-time\">&#8220;Reading Tolkien for the First Time&#8221;<\/a>. Freely available online. In the same issue, note also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plough.com\/en\/topics\/life\/beauty\/the-moral-beauty-of-middlemarch\">&#8220;The Moral Beauty of <em>Middlemarch&#8221;<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* Walking Tree publishers have a new short post with obituary links, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-tree.org\/authors\/rip-j-s-ryan.php\">&#8220;Remembering J.S. Ryan&#8221;<\/a>. Ryan being the Tolkien scholar and author of <em>Tolkien&#8217;s View: Windows into his World<\/em> (2009) and <em>In the Nameless Wood: Explorations in the Philological Hinterland of Tolkien&#8217;s Literary Creations<\/em> (2013). <em>Tolkien&#8217;s View<\/em> is especially informative for those considering the younger Tolkien in the historical\/academic context of his time.<\/p>\n<p>* <em>The Middle Page<\/em> is <a href=\"https:\/\/themiddlepage.substack.com\/p\/where-four-would-walk-an-introduction\">spending a year with J.R.R. Tolkien&#8217;s Early Poetry<\/a> and is blogging about it at length. (Substack. But not seemingly paywalled, at least not yet).<\/p>\n<p>* <em>TheTolkienist<\/em> has a report on <a href=\"https:\/\/thetolkienist.com\/2026\/03\/15\/the-second-tolkien-tagung-in-zurich-switzerland-another-amazing-conference\/\">The second Tolkien Tagung in Zurich, Switzerland<\/a>&#8230; &#8220;With close to a hundred visitors present, and about 200 participants online, this conference was another success&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>* <em>Elfenomeno<\/em> has a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elfenomeno.com\/en\/info\/ver\/29010\/interview-with-pieter-collier-from-tolkien-library\">Interview with Pieter Collier, from Tolkien Library<\/a>. Freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* The comic-book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deviantart.com\/mentat0209\/art\/Durin-Issue-1-1311158225\"><em>Durin<\/em> Issue 1<\/a>, now freely available from the artist at DeviantArt, as a 52-page PDF. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I started this project about ten years ago with my good friend Sergio Artigas, and from 2017-2020 we worked together on this book; the first of a planned seven-issue series about the life of Durin the Deathless, the first King of the Dwarves.
