Tolkien so obsessed with magic?&#8221;<\/a>, in which she considered Tolkien&#8217;s own understanding of magic and story. This YouTube talk is accompanied by her equally-long talk on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oMc5JNl9oX8\">&#8220;Tolkien&#8217;s Magic Tree&#8221;<\/a>, which considers the &#8216;tree&#8217; of Tolkien&#8217;s historical spiritual influences, in terms of their stances towards claims of magic. Freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* At the Diocese of Grand Rapids in March 2026, a talk on <a href=\"https:\/\/grdiocese.org\/event\/tolkien-and-technology\/\">&#8220;Tolkien and Technology&#8221;<\/a>&#8230; &#8220;Dr. Bradley Birzer, professor of history at Hillsdale College and fellow of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, to speak on technological themes in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>* The latest <em>Heightscast<\/em> podcast considers the place of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.listennotes.com\/podcasts\/heightscast\/tom-cox-on-an-epic-education-WdYzx56UgsO\/\">Tolkien in Middle School<\/a> classrooms in the USA. An educational term which there indicates schooling for pupils aged 12-14.<\/p>\n<p>* Dr Lynn Forest-Hill&#8217;s blog has <a href=\"https:\/\/lfhdramandmedievalism.wordpress.com\/2026\/01\/08\/january-2026\/\">a new January post<\/a> which anticipates for 2026 putting&#8230; &#8220;together all the research I have done over the last 10 years into a book tracing the history of the story of the <em>Bevis<\/em> romance from its 10th century background to the twentieth century&#8221;. She also notes a forthcoming &#8220;study day on <em>Sir Bevis&#8221;<\/em> in Southampton in August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>* Spanish Tolkien site <em>Elfenomeno<\/em> has posted a new English <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elfenomeno.com\/en\/info\/ver\/28379\/screenplay-of-smith-of-wootton-major\">complete screenplay for Tolkien&#8217;s &#8220;Smith of Wootton Major&#8221;<\/a>. Freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* The movie magazine <em>Empire<\/em> will have a special March 2026 issue for the 25th anniversary of the cinema release of <em>The Fellowship of the Ring<\/em>, the first movie in the <em>LoTR<\/em> adaptation. On the news-stands any day now.<\/p>\n<p>* And finally&#8230; New on YouTube, a compilation of all the appearances of the character <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=e3BWup1c9_4\">&#8216;J.R.R. Tolkien The Writer&#8217; in <em>Fackham Hall<\/em> (2025)<\/a>.
