The blurb makes the book sound contentiously political, but perhaps that&#8217;s just the publisher marketing it to buyers in academic libraries. Some chapters sound like interesting overviews, at least. Such as&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Early Fantasy \u2013 Green Knights and Faerie Queens.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Children\u2019s Fantasy \u2013 The Mythopoeic Land-scapes of Childhood.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Epic Fantasy \u2013 Portals, Paradises, and Waste-lands.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Urban Fantasy \u2013 Edgelands, Polders, and Wain-scots.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Mapping the Fantastic: the ethics of placiality, ar-chitectonics, and speculative cartography.<br \/>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211; Fantasy Sites \u2013 Fantasy texts and their real-world impact.<\/p>\n<p>* <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ecommons.luc.edu\/ures\/2025uresarchive\/2025URESArchive\/151\/\">Voluspa: A New Translation with Commentary<\/a><\/em> (2025), an undergraduate final project, now freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* In the latest issue of the journal <em>Arthuriana<\/em> (spring 2025) <a href=\"https:\/\/muse.jhu.edu\/pub\/91\/article\/960020\">a review of <em>Local Place and the Arthurian Tradition in England and Wales, 1400\u20131700<\/em><\/a>. Freely available online.<\/p>\n<p>* Newly online at YouTube, Tom Shippey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GodadAqSRVk\">talking about the new book of Middle-earth paintings<\/a> by Miriam Ellis.<\/p>\n<p>* Also new at YouTube, a stage musical adaptation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BRSmrxN3M_o\">J.R.R. Tolkien&#8217;s <em>The Hobbit<\/em><\/a> (1994, Cobb Children&#8217;s Theatre). Terrible video quality, but at least the camera is stable and one can get a basic idea of staging and pacing.<\/p>\n<p>* And finally&#8230; a <a href=\"https:\/\/lotr.andymation.com\/\">flipbook of <em>The Lord of the Rings<\/em><\/a>. This is a new community project to make 100,000 drawings that will then be compiled into a three-hour &#8216;flipbook-style&#8217; animation.
