{"id":3117,"date":"2009-07-31T04:14:36","date_gmt":"2009-07-31T04:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jurnsearch.wordpress.com\/?p=3117"},"modified":"2009-07-31T04:14:36","modified_gmt":"2009-07-31T04:14:36","slug":"elpub-2009-papers-now-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/jurnsearch\/index.php\/2009\/07\/31\/elpub-2009-papers-now-online\/","title":{"rendered":"ELPUB 2009 papers now online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Full-text papers and Powerpoints from <a href=\"http:\/\/conferences.aepic.it\/index.php\/elpub\/elpub2009\/index\">ELPUB 2009 : 13th International Conference on Electronic Publishing<\/a> are <a href=\"http:\/\/conferences.aepic.it\/index.php\/elpub\/elpub2009\/schedConf\/presentations\">now freely available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of titles that sound interesting, including: &#8216;Overlay Publications: a functional overview of the concept&#8217;; &#8216;Targeted knowledge: interaction and rich user experience towards a scholarly communication that &#8220;lets&#8221;&#8216;; &#8216;Incorporating Semantics and Metadata as Part of the Article Authoring Process&#8217;; and &#8216;Electronic publishing and bibliometrics&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>One short strand of the presentation <a href=\"http:\/\/conferences.aepic.it\/index.php\/elpub\/elpub2009\/paper\/view\/177\">&#8216;Electronic publishing and bibliometrics&#8217;<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/conferences.aepic.it\/index.php\/elpub\/elpub2009\/paper\/view\/177\/102\">.PPT<\/a>) is <a href=\"http:\/\/moitarah.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/24\/elpub-2009-13th-international-conference-on-electronic-publishing-rethinking-electronic-publishing-innovation-in-communication-paradigms-and-technologies\/\">summarised by Moitara&#8217;s blog<\/a> which reposts a D-lib conference report, thus&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;discussed in Moed&#8217;s keynote speech was assessment in the area of the humanities where there is a lack of reference indexes such as Scopus or Web of Science, due to the different types of research, outcomes and habits between the humanities and science communities. <strong>Moed explored five different options for the creation of a comprehensive database for the humanities<\/strong> and social sciences, including combining a number of existing European special SSH bibliographies, creating a new database from publishers&#8217; archives, stimulating further enhancement of Web of Science and Scopus, exploring the potentialities and limitations of Google Scholar and Google Book Search, and creating a citation index from institutional repositories.
