{"id":18405,"date":"2017-01-17T01:04:19","date_gmt":"2017-01-17T00:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jurnsearch.wordpress.com\/?p=18405"},"modified":"2017-01-17T01:04:19","modified_gmt":"2017-01-17T00:04:19","slug":"new-list-of-7400-journals-with-no-or-discounted-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jurn.link\/jurnsearch\/index.php\/2017\/01\/17\/new-list-of-7400-journals-with-no-or-discounted-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"New list of 7,400 journals with no or discounted APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now updated and available as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openaccess.nl\/sites\/www.openaccess.nl\/files\/documenten\/nl_apc_disc_20170109.xlsx\">Microsoft Office Excel .xls file<\/a> (750kb)&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.openaccess.nl\/en\/in-the-netherlands\/publisher-agreements\">Surfmarket<\/a> [has] made a list of more than 7,400 journals in which [&#8230;] Dutch universities and academic hospitals can publish in open access for free or with a substantial discount.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>570 of the titles fit the arts &amp; humanities category, and these are all published by a small handful of establishment publishers.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not possible to separate out the list&#8217;s eco\/nature titles, since the &#8220;Natuur&#8221; category is too broad.  At one end it ranges from <em>New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research<\/em> through to <em>Potato Research<\/em>, and at the other end goes spinning off into chemistry, maths and physics titles like <em>Polymer Bulletin<\/em>, <em>Probability Theory and Related Fields<\/em>, and <em>Progress in Nuclear Energy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I thought the list might be a useful source of some new URLs for JURN.  But there doesn&#8217;t yet seem to be any way to filter journals by their &#8220;hybrid OA&#8221; \/ &#8220;wholly OA&#8221; status.  Random sampling of the list of the 570 humanities titles suggests most are hybrid, and that as yet they only have a few OA articles in them.
