That <strong>site:<\/strong> is not at all a reliable indicator of what is indexed, <strong>when using an extended URL<\/strong>.  For instance, the PDFs of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, UK&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code>site:http:\/\/jncc.defra.gov.uk\/pdf\/<\/code><\/p>\n<p>One lone result in DuckDuckGo.  However, search for&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Vascular Plant Red Data List for Great Britain&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And up it pops at&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><code>http:\/\/jncc.defra.gov.uk\/pdf\/pub05_speciesstatusvpredlist3_web.pdf<\/code><\/p>\n<p>So the PDFs at http:\/\/jncc.defra.gov.uk\/pdf\/ <em>are<\/em> in there then,  but it seems they can only be surfaced in DuckDuckGo by using&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><code>site:jncc.defra.gov.uk filetype:pdf<\/code><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First finding from my DuckDuckGo search testing.
