I noticed version 7.0 but only glanced at 8.0. Both had some ‘nice to have’ items in the changelog, but nothing seemed compelling for those outside of certain creative niches (such as new product rendering). But today’s 8.2 release appears to be something more than a simple polish and bugfix…

“There are a lot of improvements in this release, but also some important new features and updates.”

The item which caught my eye was…

“Offline Rendering Pause” … “We’ve added the ability to pause offline rendering at any time, and if you use interior mode you’ll notice improved speed and performance”.

Not that it’s a Blender or iRay-style hog of your system resources, bringing your PC to a grinding halt. In fact, last I looked, it’s both wonderfully fast to render to 4,000px and you can run Photoshop at the same time. But pausing and re-starting partial renders does sound very useful.

Note there’s also a “completely revised and updated KeyShot 8 manual”. It’s fairly simple software that can still be learned in a day, but as it complexifies and less able users get plonked down in front of it, having a manual aligned with the very latest version could be handy.

KeyShot 8.2 has just been released.
