Adobe is preparing a Krita-killer, &#8220;Adobe Fresco&#8221; (formerly Project Gemini), a new dedicated painting and drawing software.  It&#8217;s a very crowded marketplace they&#8217;ll be launching it into, possibly later this year. There&#8217;s Autodesk Sketchbook (sort-of free), Procreate and Artrage (paid, the last time I looked), and the expensive and overly-complex Clip Studio (Manga Studio), along with many more of that type &mdash; and even more if you count the Android apps (I like the Japanese <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Fh8yOA\">Tayasui Sketches<\/a>, on the Kindle Fire).  <\/p>\n<p>How are Adobe going to compete with Krita&#8217;s excellence and its &#8220;free&#8221; tag?  At a $10 per month subscription? Initially Fresco will only be for use on dedicated &#8220;stylus and touch devices&#8221;.  My guess is they&#8217;re going to use their muscle to partner with the hardware makers and then optimize the heck out of it to run on specific popular art-creation devices.  Perhaps also they&#8217;ll assume that a &#8220;many cooks spoil the broth&#8221; Krita will be made ever more complex to use, thus open the way to a radically simpler and friendlier interface&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/dazposer\/oldimages\/fresco.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jurn.link\/dazposer\/oldimages\/fresco.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"362\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10988\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interesting news.
